LETTER: 2011 Census is most intrusive ever
WE are only weeks away from what has been described as the most intrusive Census ever.
On March 27th, we will have to account for anyone who spends that night at our homes and their personal details, including their relationship with us.
People in England will also have to give any address where they spend more than 30 nights in a year.
Anyone not answering these questions is liable to a £1,000 fine and a criminal record. When they were in opposition, Government ministers criticised the “snooper census” for showing no respect for privacy, but once in power failed to do anything.
At the very least, they should make it clear that anyone safeguarding their privacy on these highly personal questions will not face charges.
