Left confused by charity efforts

I write in response to a recent article “Pair to sleep rough to highlight homeless plight”, where Pendle Coun. Paul White (and others) are sleeping rough in Barnoldswick Town Square in March, to raise money for YMCA Blackburn.

I wondered:

a) Why Coun. White didn’t choose a Pendle-based, young, homeless charity, such as SafeSpace in Nelson;

b) Considering he is supporting a Blackburn charity, why is he not sleeping rough in Blackburn?

While, of course, I commend his efforts, I was left somewhat confused by this apparent crossover.
