Great care at our local hospitals

I sent a letter to yourselves in January praising the Urgent Care department at Burnley hospital when my husband had a fall and the fantastic treatment he received.

This wasn’t a one off, this week unfortunately I had to be taken to Urgent Care and again they were amazing, no waiting, everything explained in detail what they were doing and why and were very thorough with all the tests they did to establish the reason for my illness.

After the tests it was decided I needed to be transferred to Blackburn by ambulance, again no waiting, two lovely young men who were very polite and took exceptional care of me and made sure I was comfortable (always did like men in uniform)!

On arrival at Blackburn I was taken straight to the assessment ward, where there was a bed waiting for me and the staff immediately came to introduce themselves, gave me a brew and explained what was going to happen.

More test and visits from two doctors who were lovely and explained everything in great detail to myself and my husband. I was offered a good choice of food for tea which was very good and nourishing. Fortunately any further treatment can be done as an outpatient so I was allowed to come home that evening.

Our local hospitals get so much bad press I felt I needed to write again to sing their praises and maybe allay fears people may have if they need to use our local NHS and hope more people will tell of their good experiences rather than the bad things we normally read about. I hope I don’t have to visit again in the near future but wouldn’t have any fears if I did.
