Gradual privatisation of NHS is underway

It’s a bit much to hear Andrew Stephenson say how proud he is of the NHS (From the House, July 5th).

It was he who voted for the costly and unnecessary, complete reorganisation of the NHS, ignoring the clear advice of doctors and nurses. GPs don’t want to spend their time directing massive health budgets – they want to spend it looking after their patients.

A&E waiting times are now at a nine-year high and 4,000 nurses jobs have gone to pay for this reorganisation (which was never in the Tory manifesto by the way).

Andrew Stephenson is playing his part in the gradual breaking-up and privatisation of the NHS, of which he professes to be so proud. People need to know what’s going on behind the smooth words and smiling pictures.
