Council was forced to act on traveller sites

I read with interest the comments by our MP on the provision of travellers’ sites.
Burnley does have an issue with travellersBurnley does have an issue with travellers
Burnley does have an issue with travellers

Is he aware that the Department of Communities and Local Government, of the Coalition Government of which he is a member, published a Bill in March 2012 requiring councils to carry out a needs assessment and identify possible sites for permanent travellers sites by 2014.

In view of the problems the council has had to deal with over the last few years regarding travellers, I doubt that they would have been able to say there are no issues in Burnley, and therefore no need for the independent assessment. Once again our MP is not being honest with the Burnley residents, criticising the council for having to implement policies which his government has introduced, and which he has supported.
