Bypass speeding is a real issue

As a resident of Fence I am concerned about the excessive speed of some users of the A6068 Padiham by-pass.

I have raised the matter over a long period at Old Laund Booth Parish Council meetings, and had significant help from Pendle Coun. John David and Lancashire County Coun. Christian Wakeford.

However, when the LCC was approached with the proposal to extend the 40mph maximum speed limit from Carr Hall to Greenhead Lane, it was rejected on the grounds of “insufficient funds for signage and policing.”

Would anyone who uses the by-pass and sees any speeding, write down the date, time, registration and location and hand the details to any member of the parish council or the police. Nothing can be done without evidence.

In view of current proposals regarding commercial and residential developments on land adjacent to the by-pass, the massive increase in traffic will make this long standing speeding issue much worse.
