Time to demolish blot on Burnley’s landscape

A letter in the Express recently called for the demolition of the former Mitre pub – a real eyesore on one of the main gateways into Burnley.

And I could not agree more!

Millions of pounds have been spent on the Trafalgar Street and Westgate approaches to Burnley, but standing there slap bang in the motorists’ view is the old Mitre.

Now I am all for preserving our heritage, but this prime site has been left to deteriorate for more years than I care to remember.

It is high time the nettle was grasped and this blot on our landscape was flattened once and for all. We got rid of the Derby Hotel, now it’s the Mitre’s turn.
