Mick Ennis: a very special man

It certainly speaks volumes when so many people give up their Sunday afternoon to pay tribute to a local sporting legend.

Young and old, famous and not so famous, turned up at Belevedere on Sunday to pay homage to Mick Ennis.

Now Mick is not a professional superstar, has never played professional sport, but the affection for this former teacher suggests he is a very special man.

Mick has nurtured many local sportsmen and women over the years and has given thousands of hours of his spare time. His unselfish dedication has resulted in a crop of his proteges going on to play professional sport.

Many people owe him a lot.
