Is this the end to roadworks misery?
Tuesday’s front page of the Burnley Expresscarried the headline ‘WHAT A FARCE!’ in relation to the ridiculous roadworks that have caused gridlock across Burnley.
The story featured Burnley MP Gordon Birtwistle who accused Lancashire County Council of ‘shutting down Burnley’.
Since then, an army of workmen have miraculously descended on Westgate and the roundabout. Road markings have been put down, junction work completed and even a number of traffic lights have had their covers taken off.
Could it be that finally, some 10 weeks behind schedule, a degree of normality is about to return to our roads? I certainly hope so.
