I would pay you to keep quiet ...
I have always believed in supporting charities and am a sucker for the £2-a-month appeals that fund a raft of worthy causes.
But I draw the line at the latest ‘gimmick’ designed to help us part with our hard-earned cash.
I refer to the ‘charity singers’ who pop up from time to time in the town centre complete with a bank of amplifiers designed to keep the local shopworkers royally entertained (I use the word loosely) throughout their working day.
From what I have seen the noise drives more people awy from the collecting buckets than to them.
