One of Lowerhouse Mills Club's finest sadly dies
A Lowerhouse Mills Club fixture, Marguerite Sanderson - known affectionately as Mary - has sadly died at the age of 95.
The mother-of-five was born in Bristol on 13th November 1920 but was adopted by the Moorhouse family of Moorhouse Brewery fame at the age of one, and grew up on Clough Street in Burnley.
Mary married Charles Henry Sanderson, who died in 1990, aged 74, in 1939 and had five children - Charles Sanderson, Jean Kendall, Hazel Williamson, Evelyn Shaw, and Jack Sanderson.
Mary was the Lowerhouse Mills Club door-lady for 40 years, having joined as a newly-married 19-year-old. “She goes back a long time,” said her son Charles. “She was on the committee up until two years ago.”
Mary will be buried with her husband at Burnley Cemetery on Thursday, September 29th.
