New playground built for Fence children

Residents have raised £60,000 over the last two-and-a-half years to fund the facility, in Old Laund Street, after the old one was taken out.

They have another £10,000 to raise but Coun. Brian Newman from the parish council said organisers were confident of reaching their £70,000 target.

“We are nearly there. We are just a little bit short, we’ve still a bit of fund-raising to do. People from Fence have been absolutely tremendous.”
