New holiday camps launched at Burnley Rugby Club for October half-term
The East Lancashire Community Foundation is hosting holiday camps at Burnley Rugby Club for children aged five to 15.
Children and young people across East Lancashire will have the chance to enjoy a range of sporting activities this October half-term as a new programme of holiday camps launches at Burnley Rugby Club.
East Lancashire Community Foundation is hosting its first holiday camps at the club, offering rugby development sessions for older children alongside rugby and multi-sports activities for younger participants.
The programme gets underway on Monday, October 26, with two days of Rugby Development Camps for players aged 12 to 15 of all abilities.
Running from 9am to 3pm, the sessions will focus on developing rugby skills, including position-specific coaching for forwards and backs, safe contact techniques, attacking and defending, and decision-making under pressure.
Participants will also learn about strength and conditioning, nutrition, recovery and leadership, with professional game and video analysis used to support their development.
Each player will receive a personal development plan to help them continue improving at their own club.
The camps cost £25 per day, with drop-off available from 8.30am.
From Wednesday, October 28, to Friday, October 30, the focus switches to younger children, with Kids Rugby & Multi-Sports Camps for five to 11-year-olds.
The three-day programme will feature rugby, football, athletics, arts and crafts, games and Halloween-themed activities.
Sessions run from 9am to 3pm and cost £18 per day, or £50 for all three days.
Simon Finnan, Foundation Lead, said: “We’re incredibly excited to launch our first holiday camps at Burnley RUFC. A huge amount of work has gone into bringing this programme together, and we can’t wait to welcome children and young people for a brilliant October half-term.
“From helping young rugby players take their next steps to giving younger children the chance to enjoy different sports and activities, these camps are about creating opportunities to learn, build confidence and have fun.
“Burnley is the starting point for our camp programme, which we will extend across our partner rugby clubs to reach more families throughout East Lancashire.”
Following the Burnley launch, the Foundation plans to extend its holiday camps across its five partner clubs in Blackburn, Burnley, Clitheroe, Colne & Nelson, and Rossendale.
Places are still available for the October half-term sessions.
