New Burnley Christian high school will open in September

Burnley High School, which will have a Christian ethos, is set to open its doors in September next year but so far bosses at Chapel Street Community Schools Trust, which will run the school, have refused to be drawn on where it could be.

According to a spokesman the charity is looking at several potential sites across town and is currently in negotiations. The Department for Education has given the go-ahead for the school, which will provide 90 places for 11-year-olds who will be entering Year 7.

This week the school has launched its public consultation period for families to find out more about the school, which will specialise in technology, science, engineering and maths. Consultation will run until December 16th.

A Parents’ Forum will be held at 6-30pm on November 13th at Life Church Burnley, in Sycamore Avenue, where students from the sister school in Atherton will provide accounts of their experience.

That will be followed by a public consultation meeting at 7-45pm.

There will also be a public drop-in session between noon and 4pm on December 4th at Life Church.

More than 150 people attended the first parents’ forum for Burnley High School in September.

At the end of the consultation period, a report will be produced and given to the Department for Education.
