New Booths store opens in Barrowford
This morning (Thursday) Barrowford’s new Booths store was officially opened – and on Wednesday evening hundreds of people went there to have a look before the launch.
People were invited to preview their food, wine and grocery facilities and almost 500 went along. They were given drinks and samples of food available there, and had the opportunity to have a good look round the store.
There was also lots of entertainment in the massive cafe upstairs, featuring both the great Artisan Brass musicians and wonderful young singers from the village’s St Thomas’s CE Primary School.
The chairman of Barrowford Parish Council, Coun. James Begley, said: “It’s the best thing that’s happened to Barrowford this century – a wonderful experience coming here today! Whenever have you seen anything like this in Barrowford before?”
County Coun. Azhar Ali – Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Pendle – went along and said: “This is an amazing store which brings something different and unique to the shopping experience for local people in Pendle.”
Mr Philip McIvor, chairman and managing director of Nelson firm Farmhouse Biscuits, said: “The store is beautiful – it’s fantastic. It’s great to see so many people here. I’m glad they are selling our biscuits here!”
And Mr Roy Balmforth, a local resident, also looked round that evening. He said: “I’m really impressed with the store and I look forward to coming down here - I live just a minute away from the store.”
