Nelson man in court on Facebook ‘disorder’ charge

A NELSON man who was one of four arrested as part of a police investigation connected with recent disorder has appeared at Preston Crown Court.

Christopher Schofield (26), of Ecroyd Close, is accused of assisting or encouraging in the commision of an offence, believing it would be committed.

Also appearing at the preliminary hearings were Karl Manley (28), of Goldfinch Close, Heysham; Stefan Johnson (21), of Greenfield Street, Lancaster; and Warren Calvert (19), of Kingsway, Heysham.

It is understood the cases relate to messages allegedly posted on Facebook.

All four had their cases adjourned for a plea and case management hearing on October 20th.

They were all remanded on bail following their appearance before Judge Anthony Russell, the Recorder of Preston.

Schofield has a condition of bail that bars him from having access to the Internet for any purpose.
