Nelson driver accused over horror smash

A 41-year-old man has appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving on the Grane Road between Blackburn and Haslingden in April last year.

The court heard motorcyclist Steven Hays, 45, suffered multiple injuries, including a head injury which required the removal of part of his skull.

Miss Parveen Akhtar (prosecuting) said Mr Hays suffered a brain injury and was still unable to talk.

“It is not know if Mr Hays will make a full recovery,” said Miss Akhtar.

Imtiaz Shah, of Smith Street, Nelson, was sent on bail to Preston Crown Court where he will appear on May 14th.

He gave no indication of plea.
