Former Nelson resident Muzz Khan, who will be gracing our screens later this year in “The Suspicions of Mr Whicher”, has expressed his excitement at being offered a slot at The Drop the Beat festival.

Muzz, who used to work at Colne’s Kwik Save, is known locally for his involvement in the Pendle Youth Theatre scene and was also a winner of a Leader Times Stage award.

The Burnley-born star believes the event, which is being organised by Craig Kennedy and Madge Nawaz, will be a “truly monumental festival” that “will put the town right on the map”.

Muzz (32), who has just filmed an episode of the new “24: Live Another Day” series with Kiefer Sutherland and who now lives in London, said: “I’m really excited about it. I can tell you now that, having seen the headliners Craig and Madge have booked, they have pulled of quite a feat here.

“It oozes in quality and resonated with me massively down here in London. I’ll be making a rare trip to Burnley just to DJ on the day.

“It’s my place of birth and for me to be spinning at the inaugural festival is a bit of an honour.”

It is expected that around 2,000 dance music fans could be making their way to the one-day music festival, in Towneley Park, on Saturday, August 16th.

The event will feature legendary Hacienda group K-Klass, as well as world class DJ and Kissdafunk founder Rob Tissera, veteran DJ Stu Allan and around 40 other house music acts.

Tickets are £25, or £50 for VIP, and £3 from every ticket will go to support Burnley charity Furniture for Education Worldwide. It will take place from noon until 11pm.
