The Burnley Festival of Music & Culture 2026 brings a diverse programme of live music to venues across the town, with Aziz Ibrahim and Dalbir Singh Rattan performing a special free concert at The Landmark on 8th November.
Two acclaimed musicians will bring together their distinctive musical traditions for a special free performance at The Landmark in Burnley on Sunday 8th November, from 7pm to 9pm, as part of the Burnley Festival of Music & Culture 2026.
Experience a masterclass in cultural synergy as legendary guitarist Aziz Ibrahim (The Stone Roses, Simply Red) joins forces with tabla maestro Dalbir Singh Rattan for a spectacular live performance.
This concert honours the roots of South Asian classical music while pushing heritage into the future. Audiences will witness a fierce, equal partnership between the hypnotic rhythms of the traditional Indian tabla, rooted in the prestigious Benares Gharana lineage, and Ibrahim's signature 'Desi Guitar' acoustic and electric styling. Don't miss this ecstatic celebration of diverse cultural histories seamlessly melding into a unified art form right here in Burnley.
Born in Longsight, Manchester, to Pakistani parents, Ibrahim has enjoyed a remarkable musical career, working with artists including Ian Brown, Paul Weller and Asia, alongside his own pioneering solo work.
He will be joined by longtime collaborator Dalbir Singh Rattan, a renowned tabla player and co-founder of the Raga-Rock Collective. Together, the pair have developed a musical partnership that crosses genres and celebrates their shared passion for creative collaboration.
The performance is part of the Burnley Festival of Music & Culture 2026, which runs from 4th to 21st November, bringing a diverse programme of live music to venues across the town.
Spanning indie, jazz, hip hop, soul, electronic music and more, the festival will showcase a wide range of musical talent, with The Landmark among the participating venues alongside nearby St Peter's Church and other locations across Burnley.
The festival is organised by the University of Lancashire in partnership with the Lancashire Music Association and BLC Group, with funding from Arts Council England. It also forms part of the preparations for Burnley Year of Culture 2027.
Heather McCarthy, Business & Events Manager at The Landmark, said: "We're absolutely delighted to be part of Burnley's Festival of Music and Culture and to welcome two musicians of this calibre to The Landmark. It's a real honour to have Aziz and Dalbir performing here. We're looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic evening and it's even better that people can come along and enjoy it for free."
The gig will take place in The Great Hall, one of The Landmark's event spaces, which has its own private bar.
