Experts have warned that further outbreaks of sleet and snow will affect parts of Northern England throughout the course of this morning.

Some areas of Burnley, Pendle and the Ribble Valley have seen accumulations of up to 5cm of snow overnight, mostly over higher ground, but also at some lower levels, and there may be further localised accumulations of several centimeters before the bands of snow become lighter and patchier later this morning. Total accumulations of 10cm or more, including that already fallen, are possible over hills.
