Michael Kirkbright (66) was found dead just after 1-30pm on Thursday, July 28th, in his motorhome at Cafe Cargo, Warehouse Lane, Foulridge.

An inquest at Burnley Coroner’s Court heard that Mr Kirkbright was found by cafe staff who reported a strong smell of fumes coming from the petrol-driven generator inside the home.

East Lancashire Coroner Mr Richard Taylor was told the engine to the generator was in the on position but there was no fuel in the reservoir when the body was found.

Pathologist Dr Richard Prescott, who conducted a post-mortem examination, has requested an adjournment for further tests to be carried out. However, he has indicated that the cause of death is likely to be carbon monoxide poisoning.
