Man seriously injured after being hit by car

The incident happened at 10-40pm, when a silver Ford Fiesta, travelling along Trafalgar Street towards Burnley collided with a 28-year-old man from Burnley.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital to be treated for severe leg injuries, a broken arm and swelling to the brain. His condition is described as critical.

The driver of the car, a 44-year-old woman from Accrington, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She remains in police custody at this time.

Police are appealing to anybody who may have seen the incident to call 101 quoting incident reference 1495 of July 9th.
