Man (78) dies after bus fall: police appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man died following a fall on a bus in Burnley.

The incident happened on Saturday when a 78-year-old local man got on the 1864 bus in St James’s Street at 12-54pm. While on the bus he is believed to have suffered a fall before getting off at Colne Road at 1-06pm.

He was later taken Royal Blackburn Hospital with a hit injury and died on Monday.

PS Steve Wignall from the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident where a man has passed away and my thoughts remain with his family at this very sad time.

“We are trying to establish exactly how the man came to fall and I would urge anyone who was on the bus at the time and witnessed what happened to get in touch with us.”
