Lucky escape for driver who crashed into pelican crossing
AN elderly driver had a lucky escape after his car hit a pelican crossing and overturned.
The incident happened around 4pm on Saturday, in Whalley Road, Read. People from nearby Read Football Club and Read and Simonstone Constitutional Club helped the man get out of the red Volkswagen Polo.
Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene and the man was treated for shock, although a police spokeswoman said he was unhurt.
