Eleven-year-old Lewis Taylor was diagnosed with rhabomysarcoma – a cancer which affects the muscles and soft tissue in his body.

The Clarets fan was still at primary school when he developed a tumour after an innocuous playground fall just before the summer holidays.

The former St Stephen’s Primary School pupil had a swelling in his hand – but the cancer is so rare in children it took doctors seven months to diagnose the condition.

Mum Susan, of Todmorden Road, said the family was heartbroken when they found out Lewis had cancer in February.
