Lamissah La-Shontae Bhatti (6), a Year 1 pupil at Ightenhill Primary School, will represent the North-West of England at a heat of Face of the Globe in Chester on May 10th. If she is successful there she could go on to compete at Disneyland Paris in October.

She is raising money for the Rainbow Child Foundation, a global charity which supports underprivileged children.

If she gets further in the competition she will also get the chance to fund-raise for her chosen charity, Alzheimer’s, in memory of her late grandfather.

Last weekend Lamissah, who has four brothers, completed a sponsored roller skate in Towneley Park where she bumped into former Clarets chairman Mr Barry Kilby.

She has a host of other events in the pipeline, including a spicy food stall, cake and bake sale, sponsored silence and sponsored swim.

Proud mum Zohra (40), of Throstle Close, Burnley, said: “It’s not just about being Face of the Globe it’s about fund-raising for a good cause.

“She’s only six but she’s got such a big heart. She sees things on television and tells me she wants to help people.

“It’s also about raising awareness and she’s certainly doing that. She’s been going round getting people’s support.

“School have been really good, they are behind her 100%. Obviously she’d love to win Face of the Globe, it would be her dream but for her it’s about supporting these underprivileged children.

“She’s working so hard and we are so proud of her, she is coming up with all her own ideas. She’s an inspiration.”
