She went along to Acorns Nursery and officially opened its new extension, before chatting with staff, children and parents.

The additional space has been backed by a grant from Lancashire County Council. The Shadow Minister was joined by County Coun. Azhar Ali, Pendle’s Labour parliamentary candidate.

Ms McGovern said: “I very much enjoyed being here. It was wonderful to see the children enjoying their plays and great to chat to them.”
