Julie is a Dementia Friends champion

A specialist in dementia is working with the Alzheimer’s Society to deliver free information sessions to community groups and organisations to help raise awareness of the condition.

Julie Foote, owner of home care provider Right at Home, who provide care including dementia care to clients in the Ribble Valley and rest of East Lancashire, recently became a Dementia Friends Champion.

She will now act on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society to create networks of Dementia Friends – people who understand the impact of dementia and know what can be done to make life easier for those who live with it.

She said “Dementia affects a growing number of people from all walks of life and I am passionate about helping them to live well, through providing excellent standards of care and by raising awareness of the condition within our communities.

“The Dementia Friends initiative of getting people together with a trained Champion volunteer is an effective way of doing this. The sessions last about an hour and are eye-opening and inspirational.”
