Joyce is remembered by her quiz league friends


Quiz stalwart Joyce Torkington, who died earlier this year, was cared for at the hospice.
More than 100 people, including league players and Joyce’s friends and family, gathered at Ighten Mount Bowling Club to enjoy a night of quizzing.

Hide AdMike Smith served as question master providing plenty of mental exercise. There was also a raffle, stand-up bingo, supper and prizes galore.
A tie break was required to separate the Police@Lowerhouse from the General William’s Clarets. The latter emerged as the winners of the trophy and cash prize, which they generously gave back to the charity.
Hospice volunteers and Tesco’s Community Champion helped members make a £1,011 – a record breaking achievement and a fitting tribute to Joyce.
