I have been a trainer for more than eight years and seen hundreds of personal training clients including professional footballers like Jay Rodriguez, Kieran Trippier and Oliver Norwood through to people trying to lose a couple of stones in preparation for holidays, weddings or even 10k runs.

Last year it was my task to help TV personality Jeff Brown lose over six stone in order to raise £10,000 for charity in a matter of five months to take on the Asda Foundation Pennine Lancashire 10k charity run.

Jeff completed the run and raised nearly £15,000 for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and maybe this year you could do the same.

I am building a comprehensive countdown programme in the build up to the Pennine 10k run which you can follow each week to get you ready for the big race on June 22nd.

I will be talking you through every aspect of preparing for a 10k whether you are a seasoned runner or it is your very first race. Over the coming weeks leading up to the Pennine 10k I will be offering tips and advice on training, nutrition, stretching and recovery and tackling the course.

The programme is a chance to introduce useful techniques and training methods into your preparations to help you run the best race possible.
