Celebrating pet heroes from all walks of life – from animals in the services, therapy and assistance pets, or a much-loved pet who has brought joy in to your life – there’s no hero deed too big or small to qualify for the PetSafe® Pet Hero title.

To start the search, PetSafe® has found inspirational search and rescue dog Finn, trained by Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team, a registered charity manned by volunteers who provide rescue services for lost walkers, fell runners, mountain bikers, missing children and dementia sufferers.

Steve Garofalo, RPMRT dog trainer, explains why Finn is a hero. He said: “Finn is a huge asset during searches as he can cover large areas quickly and has helped with numerous call outs.

“He has been trained in a special technique called ‘Air Scenting’ – picking up and reacting to human scents being blown towards him in the wind, even when it’s dark!”

And Steve added: “Finn and I share a very strong bond – he is a talented, hard-working dog – but what he enjoys doing best is following me on a mountain bike, chasing squirrels and jumping on bank voles in the grass!”

If you think your pet deserves the chance to win the PetSafe® Pet Hero 2015 title, send them your pet’s name, along with a photo and brief explanation about what makes him/her a hero.

The deadline for North West entries is September 15th, and the national final announcement is being held on December 3rd.

Post your entry to PetSafe® Pet Hero, Hattrick PR, 6a Framingham Road, Sale, Cheshire, M33 3SH or call 0161 660 0993.
