Investigation after Brierfield house blaze

Police and the fire service are investigating after a house fire in Brierfield.

Firefighters were called to Oxford Street at 8-15pm last night after a fire started in the hallway. Luckily there was no one in the property at the time of the blaze and crews from Nelson fire station used breathing apparatus and hose reel jet to put out the flames.

Watch manager Roy Edwards said: “The fire looks to have been started deliberately and a joint investigation between the fire service and police is being carried out.”
