Inquest opens into death of garage boss (45)

A popular and respected family man died in hospital after collapsing at a relative’s house in Nelson.

Garage owner Mr Tasleem Hussain Raza Shah (45) was pronounced dead in the Royal Blackburn Hospital at 2-50am on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination carried out by pathologist Dr Deepa Jacob proved inconclusive and toxicology tests have been requested.

Dad-of-two Mr Shah of Napier Street, Nelson, had been celebrating Eid the night before.

East Lancashire Coroner Mr Richard Taylor heard evidence that Mr Shah had visited a relative’s house in Fern Bank, Nelson.

Mr Taylor heard that, at some point in the evening, he went into another room in the house. When his relative later went to check on him, he was seen sitting in front of a cupboard in a collapsed state.

The Coroner adjouned the hearing for further tests to be carried out and a full inquest to be held on October 27th.

Mr Shah’s funeral was held on Tuesday.
