Injured ex Claret charged with drink-driving
Former Claret Clarke Carlisle had been charged with a drink-driving offence in the days before he was seriously injured in a road accident.


The retired Burnley Football Club centre-half is currently in hospital after being struck by a lorry on the A64 near York on December 22nd.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the 35-year-old was charged with failing to provide a sample on December 20th.

Hide AdHe is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on January 20th.
Carlisle, who is also a former chairman of the Professional Footballers’ Association, made more than 500 appearances for nine clubs, and was part of the Burnley team that won promotion to the Premier League in 2009.
