Help to cope after a pet dies
The Samaritans of Pendle, Burnley, Craven and Rossendale have teamed up with Stanley House vets to help pet owners through the sad time.
Staff at Stanley House have already undergone specialist training from the Samaritans to help them support those making the hard decision to have their pet put to sleep.
Now the Samaritans and veterinary practice - which has a branch in Burnley - have, due to public demand, organised two drop-in support sessions at the Samaritans’ office in Market Square, Nelson. The sessions will run on Wednesday, July 20th, from 2-4pm and a6-8pm, with staff from Stanley House and Samaritan volunteers on hand to chat and offer a listening ear.
Ian Hartley, director of the local Samaritans, said: “Many people get in touch with the Samaritans after the loss of a pet. An animal offers unconditional love or may have been a constant companion so their loss is devastating.
There’s no need to book and refreshments are available.
