Organised by Nelson telecoms company Daisy Group, staff from the firm were joined by employees from TalkTalk, Lex, Crow Wood, Skoda, BMW, Businesswise Solutions and Ribble Rivers Trust volunteers to clean up the area surrounding the river at Crow Wood in Burnley which has been neglected since the Christmas floods.

The 30 strong team went with the flow during an entire day’s work as rubble was removed, debris was dealt with and notable items including a motorbike, driving licence, tyres and shopping trollies were recovered. They were also tasked to remove an invasive weed, known as Himalayan Balsam, which is renowned for causing problems in the area.

Tony Harcombe, Group Procurement Director at Daisy Group, said: “We wanted to do something a bit different that was more than just another corporate team day – get the staff out of the office environment and get them working as a team with some of our business partners to do something worthwhile in our community.

“We acquired quite a few scratches and stings, and there wasn’t a dry sock in sight – but it was truly a fantastic day and I am really proud of the effort that the team put in.”
