Halowe’en walk up Pendle Hill helps hospice

A GRUELLING ghoulish Hallowe’en walk up Pendle Hill ended with a real treat for Pendleside Hospice.

More than 300 intrepid walkers braved the cold and mist, many dressed in fancy dress, to help raise a fantastic £13,500 for the hospice.

Winner of the best children’s fancy dress was nine-year-old Jenna Nuttall who picked up a family pass for the Sandcastle in Blackpool. The adult prize went to Georgina Bedwell who won a night for two with an evening meal at the Holiday Inn in Harrogate.

Fund-raising manager Christina Cope said: “It was a truly wonderful event and one that we’ll be hoping to put on again next year.

“I’d like to thank the 36 marshals, the mountain rescue, community police and radio network RAYNET for helping make the event success.

“We could not be more pleased with the total raised.”
