Fresh police appeal in rape investigation
Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Colne are appealing for the driver of a car to come forward.
Officers want to trace a dark coloured BMW one series which was seen driving along Tennyson Avenue having come from Ruskin Avenue direction around 10-50pm on Saturday, February 6th.
There is no suggestion at this time that this vehicle is involved in the incident, however police would like to speak to the driver as a potential witness.
The vehicle may belong to someone who lives in the area or possibly someone visiting a property in that area. We would ask the driver or anyone with any information to contact police on 101 quoting log number LC-20160206-1523.
The incident happened at shortly before 11pm when a 23-year-old woman was walking along Tennyson Road. When she was at the junction with Slater Avenue she is thought to have been grabbed from behind by a man and dragged into a ginnel where possibly two or three other men were waiting.
She was then subjected to a serious sexual assault, possibly by two of the men.
One of the offenders is described as dark skinned and being about 6ft tall and another as chubby. All the men were wearing hats and one may have been wearing a waterproof coat.
The victim described some of the men as speaking with foreign accents.
Officers are continuing to carry out a number of enquiries in the area as part of the on-going investigation.
If anyone has any information that could assist with the on-going investigation, they can call police on 101 quoting log 1523 of 6th February.
