Former Pendle councillor Ian (72) dies

The funeral of a former Pendle councillor will take place on Wednesday (September 16th).

Ian Jeffrey (72), died on September 4th after suffering from a heart complaint.

He had worked as a motor mechanic for the police in Pendle and a bus driver for Stagecoach and Burnley and Pendle Transport and was involved in many local organisations.

He was a piper with Accrington Pipe Band, a member of the Royal British Legion’s Nelson and District Branch and also a Welfare Officer for the royal Air Force Skipton Branch. He represented Brierfield on Pendle Council and more recently was a Brierfield Town Councillor.

He leaves a daughter Lynn and son Peter.

His funeral takes place at St Paul’s Church in Catlow Hall Street, Oswaldtwistle, at 1-45pm followed by cremation at Burnley at 3pm, followed by a reception at The Arden pub in Abbey Street, Accrington. Family flowers only, but donations in memory of Mr Jeffrey will be welcomed for the Christie Hospital in Manchester via Barton and Hallworth Funeral Service, Oswaldtwistle.
