Former Mayor guilty of assault and drink driving
Burnley Magistrates’ Court heard how Coun. Heginbotham, who was the Mayor of Burnley in 2011-12, returned home to Park Road in Cliviger from a night at a pub in Todmorden and began arguing with his step-daughter Michelle Lord before striking her and his wife Joan Heginbotham, who tried to prevent the argument.
The court also heard how the Conservative councillor for Cliviger with Worsthorne drove “around 400 yards” home in his car after being dropped off at his vehicle by his son, who he had spent the night with, despite being over the limit.
He was ordered to pay fines totalling £2,460, banned from driving for 12 months, and given a 12 months restraining order towards the victims.
