Five cleared of ‘ferocious’ attack of men in parked car in Burnley
Five men have been cleared of a “ferocious” attack which was said to have left two men seriously injured.
Asim Hussain and Mujahid Ansar were alleged to have been beaten by the gang, who were accused of being armed with an axe, iron bars, bats and at least one knife. Burnley Crown Court had heard claims Mr Ansar’s face and head had been slashed with a knife and he had also suffered a smashed kneecap.
In the dock had been Furqan Amjad (21) and Mohammed Amjad (23), of Halifax Road, Brierfield; Shabaz Khan (25), of Manchester Road, Audenshaw; Asjid Afzal (25), of Mansfield Crescent, Brierfield; and Asim Hussain (19), of Chorley Old Road, Bolton.
They had all denied two charges of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and one count of violent disorder, last October 16th. The five were all found not guilty of all allegations against them after a week-long trial.
