Firefighters free two elderly women after car crash

Two elderly women were freed from a car following a crash last night.

The accident involving two cars on Colne Road, Burnley, happened at 11-10 pm.

Two fire engines from Burnley were called to the scene and firefighters used specialist equipment to release the two women.

A silver Vauxhall Mokka is believed to have been in collision with a blue Vauxhall Vectra, after it came out of the Oaks Hotel.

A police spokesman said the two elderly women were taken out of the Vauxhall Mokka and were checked over by paramedics. They were then taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with minor injuries and were subsequently released.

The Vauxhall Vectra driver is also believed to have not sustained any major injuries during the accident.

Firefighters were at the scene for 40 minutes.
