Firefighters battle Burnley town centre blaze for five hours

Firefighters spent over five hours battling a blaze in Burnley town centre today.

Two fire engines from Burnley, one from Padiham, one from Nelson, and one fire engine and one aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn were called to the commercial building fire on St. James Street at 8-42am.

Firefighters used two hose reel jets, six breathing apparatus, two positive pressure ventilation units, a thermal imaging camera and a triple extension ladder to bring the fire under control.

Crews were at scene for around five hours and 15 minutes.
