Fire officers rescue horse

A horse was rescued by firefighters after a 999 call this morning.

Officers were called to Robin House Lane, Brierfield, at around 8am today.

Firefighters from Nelson and Burnley were called to help a horse which couldn’t stand up.

They worked with a vet and used straps and slings to rescue the horse. Firefighters were at the scene for approximately 45 minutes.

In another incident, firefighters attended a road traffic collision in Windy Bank, Colne, last night.

Two fire engines from Colne were called to the incident involving a car.

Firefighters released one person who was trapped underneath the car and they were later taken to hospital.
