Five fire engines, including two crews from Clitheroe and one each from Hyndburn, Great Harwood and Padiham, responded to the call out at the Whalley Road property at 5-20 am.

It is believed that both floors of the two-storey large detached house were well alight with an aerial ladder platform and crew responding to the blaze.

It took firefighters three hours to extinguish the fire using three main water jets with police closing Whalley Road. An update in respect of any casualties relating to the incident is awaited.
