Eric's generous birthday donation

To celebrate Eric Fielden's 80th birthday, family and friends have made a £320 donation to Pendleside Hospice in lieu of gifts to honour the memory of his wife Barbara.

The donation came after a surprise 80th birthday party was thrown for Eric at the Minor’s Club in Burnley on the 10th of December last year.

“I was so happy that my family had asked my friends and family for donations to the hospice in lieu of gifts,” said Eric.

A Pendleside Hospice spokespersonsaid: “ [We’d like to say] a massive thank you to Eric Fielden and his family.”

“I don’t need anything and Barbara used the hospice six years ago; the care was exceptional,” Eric added.

“When she was ill in hospital, she said ‘take me home’ when she referred to Pendleside,” he continued.
