Walkers rescued from Pendle Hill after getting lost in the dark
Walkers are being warned about the dangers of heading out unprepared after three people became lost on Pendle Hill in the dark.
Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team were called out at around 10pm on Wednesday, April 1, to assist Lancashire Police in locating the group.
Volunteers were deployed onto Pendle Hill and quickly found the three walkers following a short search.
One of the group had suffered a minor ankle injury but, after being assessed by rescuers, was able to continue walking with assistance.

All three were safely escorted off the hill and returned to safety.
Following the incident, the rescue team issued a warning highlighting how easily situations can escalate, particularly after dark.
A spokesperson said the callout should act as “a reminder of how easy it is to lose your way, particularly after dark”.
They urged walkers to take simple precautions, including planning routes in advance and carrying appropriate equipment such as navigation tools and a torch.
The team also thanked attending police officers for their support during the incident.
Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team is a charity that provides a 24/7 emergency service throughout the year, relying on public donations to continue its work.
