Probe launched after six fire engines attend huge blaze at former Papa Sam's takeaway in Burnley's St James Street in Burnley

An investigation is underway into a huge fire that ripped through a derelict building in Burnley town centre last night.

Six fire engines were called out just before 6-30pm to the premises, the former Papa Sam’s takeaway, in St James Street at the junction with Calder Street.

An aerial ladder platform, an incident command unit, and a drone, all from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, were also involved in fighting the flames. Firefighters used 45mm jets, two hose reels, and breathing apparatus units.
