Elderly woman hospitalised after hit-and-run

Police are appealing for information after a 74-year-old woman was involved in a hit-and-run in Brierfield.

The collision happened at around 8-25pm on Sunday when the woman was involved in a collision with a vehicle that was travelling in the direction of Brierfield as she crossed Colne Road after the Churchill Way roundabout.

She suffered a head injury and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where she is recovering.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officers are particularly keen to trace anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who saw a grey Volkswagen Golf and grey Audi A3 travelling together before or after the incident.

They would also like to hear from anyone in the area who has CCTV cameras at their premises which might be able to assist them.

PS Tracey Ward, from the Road Policing Uni,t said: “An investigation is under way to establish the exact circumstances of this collision and we are keen to hear from anyone who might have any information that could assist with our on-going enquiries.”
