East Lancashire ‘burlesque’ singer to star on BBC’s The Voice

A burlesque singer from East Lancashire is bidding to wow millions on a top TV talent show.

Jazz and blues songstress Kiki DeVille is dreaming of stardom when she appears on stage on the BBC programme The Voice tonight.

The Earby performer, also known as Kristianne Robinson, will be shown singing for the star-studded panel of judges which includes Kylie Minogue, Will-i-am, Tom Jones and Ricky Wilson.

The “blind auditions” see the star judges with their backs to the performers and Kiki will literally have to turn the judges’ heads with her voice alone.

Austrialian-born Kiki, who turned 40 this year, sang “Stone Cold Sober” by Paloma Faith and won praise from the four judges.

But viewers will have to wait until tonight to see if her performance impressed the judges enough to see her through to the next round.

Kiki, who has performed at burlesque and heritage events in Earby and Clitheroe, took to Twitter to thank fans for their support, saying: “I just wanted to say how completely overwhelmed I am today at so much support for my recent journey.

Kiki, who is a lover of all things vintage, will appear on the show which airs tonight at 7-10pm on BBC 1.
